Microsoft Paints A New Graphic Design Tool

Codenamed Acrylic, Microsoft has made available its new professional graphics software for beta testing.
Don't try and go there today if you're on dial-up, though. Microsoft's latest software will be a 77MB download for those who want to test it.
Windows XP SP2 will be required, and Microsoft recommends a Pentium 4 processor with 512MB of RAM and 1024x768 monitor resolution with 24-bit color. 500MB of disc space and a graphics tablet supporting WinTab have been recommended.
Reaction to Acrylic on Microsoft's public forum on the product has been mixed. But Microsoft has called this a beta product, and warns before download that it may have some optimization issues.
Microsoft purchased a Hong Kong company which made Acrylic's predecessor, Expression. Microsoft touts Acrylic as combining pixel-based painting with vector graphic capabilities.
The Acrylic beta will time-expire on October 1, 2005. Comments and criticisms may be viewed at its dedicated forum online.
